Covid-19 Impact on Education

In today’s post I would like to talk about the reality we are all living nowadays. As you all know, the entire world is dealing with a pandemic. Of course, it is important to keep in mind little by little it is arriving to its end (hope so!!). However, it has left a big mark in certain aspects of life. Let's talk about this in detail!

We are aware the world is changing, and we have opted for an Information and Communication society that is increasingly moving forward. That is why I consider education must do the same. Undoubtedly, Covid-19 has been key for us to be aware we need to be academically prepared in everything which might be related to technologies.

Due to Covid-19, some labour market sectors have been able to maintain their job, thanks to telework or, what is the same, thanks to the opportunity technologies provide us. The same for schools, and here is where I want to make emphasis. This has been reflected in education from nursery to university degrees and even higher education, thus creating the so-called Covid-19 generation. It has been thanks to technology that this sector has managed to stay afloat. If not, I am 99% sure it would probably have been paralyzed. Of course, not all countries have been able to do so as they do not count on the necessary digital resources so that their learners could have had access to a distance education. And it is important to work on this!! Education is a right for everyone!

There is still much to be done, for sure! But this could probably be the final start of a technology-mediated education. And here is when I want to take up my first words when I said the pandemic has left a mark. We have realised many teachers were not trained on how to deal with digital resources and education during lockdown was a bit chaotic. In fact, as everything happened so quickly, neither teachers nor scholars were prepared to face virtual classes. It was there where we could realise the lack of training these resources, leading to many connection problems, not knowing how to manage with digital tools, failures, distractions, lack of motivation and so on. Then, it is in our hands as future teachers to be trained on acquiring new teaching methods that involve ICT tools in the classroom to take the most advantage. We need to get our students to grow up in an environment on which they work with digital resources. As we all know, they are essentials in our daily life today. Of course, Covid-19 has demonstrated technology is great, as well as everything that it brings us. It has been responsible for keeping the world active during this time and, in this post, I just want to make special mention of the education sector.

Future teacher, we need to be on fire with technologies!!! Let’s do this!

Here I leave you this video that I found super interesting and I totally agree with it!!
