Hello everyone!
Today I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about the project my group mates and I have been working on for almost a month! It sounds crazy, but it is real. If you continue reading, you will understand why.
Several weeks ago, our teacher of "Didactics of English" explained us we had to create a didactic proposal about active learning methodologies. Well, my group had to create one based on "Project-Based Learning", also known as PBL. At first sight it sounded great but, what we didn't know, was the number of hours we were going to expend working on it (oh my god!!!!).
We decided that we were going to design a project that would take place at the end of the year and based on Christmas movies that Netflix could propose in their recommendation list. With this idea, the project got started : NetfliXmas Project! It would be aimed to a group of 3rdESO students who, at that time, they would be studying some grammatical points such as: the passive voice, new uses of the present simple, descriptions, time connectors and vocabulary related to Christmas and cinema. Based on this, we designed several activities to work on all the skills: writing, listening, vocabulary and grammar. What was the problem? That during our presentation of the work, we could only focus on one of the parts of the project, BUUUUT, we had to give context about the project as a whole! Then, we had to design the whole project even though we could only present one of its parts. We chose writing. The students had to invent a plot following some previously established guidelines related to the contents seen in class.
I guess you can get an idea of the work behind the presentation itself... hours, hours and more hours! However, the truth is that we are all incredibly satisfied with what we have done. We did a great effort, but the results were totally worth it. The implementation was so much fun and our "students" liked it very much! I mean…our classmates are going to be wonderful teachers, but the role of students goes with them too! Now we just have to wait for the grade, will it be good? I will tell you in the next posts!
PS: I attach you the link to the trailer we created to put in context to our colleagues about the previous work they "supposedly" had already done (and that we actually did! hahaha):
