Are we ready for a technology-mediated education?

For some time now, technology has led to great change in our society.

Therefore, it is logical to think it should be transferred, gaining great strength, to the classrooms as well, since these are decisive environments for the development of skills that will mark the progress of each student. In fact, the mastery of technological resources has become a fundamental requirement in the labor and professional market in which we live, where it is undoubtedly very well recognized.

Today, being well versed in a specific area goes hand in hand with digital skills. For this reason, the academic environment, where the educational foundations are laid, cannot ignore them.

In our case, we are located in Spain. Then, let's talk about our country. The truth is that our schools started their tech-education in the eighties of the twentieth century, although with certain precariousness and limitations as they were quite ambiguous systems and not everyone could afford them due to their high cost. However, little by little, a more favorable view of their use began to emerge. Thus, with the passage of time the situation has changed as well as the introduction of technology in schools has been incresing until today. You will agree with me when I say this (I hope so). In fact, a great number of centers have digital resources such as digital screens, computer rooms, ans so on. Evidently, there are many others that still lack these ones because they do not have the required budget to be able to acquire them.

Despite the fact that, in general, there has been a favorable evolution regarding technological equipment in classrooms, The truth is that we do not take full advantage of the benefits it offers us.

That is, it is not used enough to consider that educational centers have adopted a teaching model whose main axis is the use of ICT tools, or at least one of them. With this, it can be established that it is in our hands as teachers, or future teachers, to train both students and the teaching staff in the mastery of educational technological tools in order to be able to get the maximum potential out of them at a practical level. Therefore, the goal here is to achieve an effective use of new technologies.
